11 Days Holy Land and Jordan

Day 1 - Departure

We depart from our home town on our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board. Relax and enjoy.

Day 2 – Tel Aviv

Upon arrival to Tel Aviv, we will be greeted by our representative and transferred to our hotel along the Mediterranean for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 – Tiberias

After breakfast, we begin our journey northward by motor coach along the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea. This ancient city was built in honor of Caesar by Herod the Great, and was the capital of the Romans in the Holy Land for nearly 500 years. See the Crusader City and the fantastic aqueduct before continuing to Haifa, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We will drive to the crest of Mt. Carmel, through the Jezreel Valley and arrive at the site of Megiddo, one of King Solomon’s “chariot cities”, and, according to scripture, the location for the last battle in history. See Gideon’s brook, the “Well of Herod”, and continue on to Cana and into Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home, where you will visit the Church of Annunciation. Then, we continue onto Tiberias for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4 – Tiberias

There is nothing quite like witnessing a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee. Although there are many places which we must admit are traditional, you can be sure that the Lord Jesus walked down these shores. After a sunrise service and breakfast, visit the Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount; Tabgha, the Chapel dedicated to the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue on to the ruins at Capernaum, then the Synagogue and the house of Simon Peter. Cross the Sea of Galilee by motorboat. We end the day with a stop at the Jordan River, where a baptismal service is possible. Return to Tiberias for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 – Jerusalem

This morning will begin with a stop at Gergesa, and then head south to Beth Shean. Stop to see the most recent excavations and discoveries from the Roman era. Our trip then takes us “up into Jerusalem” and continues on into Bethlehem. Visit the Church of Nativity, built over the stable where Jesus was born and the church of Visitation. Take some time for light shopping and then return to Jerusalem for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6 – Jerusalem

Today we see the Old City…the high point of our entire tour. Enter the Old City through the Eastern Gate and begin a walking tour which takes us through St. Stephen’s Gate to the Pool of Bethesda and St. Anne’s Church. Continue to the Temple area of Mt. Moriah. Visit the Dome of the Rock (entry not permitted) and the Western Wall. Walk through the Old City’s bazaars to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. View the Tower of David, the Citadel, and King David’s Tomb. Visit the Jewish quarter, before we leave the city through Jaffa Gate. Visit Mt. Zion and the Upper Room. Our next stop will be the Garden Tomb and Golgotha, Place of the Skull, where a worship service is possible. Our evening ends with a visit of the Garden of Gethsemane. We return to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7 – Mesada

We begin the day with an early morning departure as we head south from Jerusalem. We dip 1300ft. below Sea level to the lowest spot on earth known as the Dead Sea. Take some time to float on this mineral rich body of water, before we climb to Masada. Ascend the mountain by cable car ride to the remarkable ruins of the fortress built by Herod the Great. From 70 -73A.D. Jewish zealots made their last stand against the Romans. We end the tour by a visit to the caves of Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. We return to Jerusalem for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8 – Jerusalem

Today we have the opportunity to take things at our own pace. As you spend your day at leisure you may consider revisiting favorite site, shopping or just relaxing. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at our hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 9 –Jordan

We cross the King Hussein Border to Amman early morning. Tour Amman, Jerash, and Mt. Nebo before we head to Petra for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day10 – Petra

Begin the tour with a walk through the "Siq," an immense crack in the Nubian sandstone, to the city of Petra carved out of the rose red rock. The Treasury, El Khazneh, is one of the most elegant remains of antiquity. Beyond El Khazneh we are surrounded on both sides by hundreds of Petra's carved and built structures. Departing Petra, we travel northward on the King's Highway where to the east we view the hilltop palace/fortress of Machaerus, the place where John the Baptist was beheaded. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in Amman.
