Day 1 - Departure
We depart from our home town on our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board. Relax and enjoy.
Day 2 – Tel Aviv
Upon arrival to Tel Aviv, we will be greeted by our representative and transferred to our hotel along the Mediterranean for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 – Tiberias
After breakfast, we begin our journey northward by motor coach along the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea. This ancient city was built in honor of Caesar by Herod the Great, and was the capital of the Romans in the Holy Land for nearly 500 years. See the Crusader City and the fantastic aqueduct before continuing to Haifa, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We will drive to the crest of Mt. Carmel, through the Jezreel Valley and arrive at the site of Megiddo, one of King Solomon’s “chariot cities”, and, according to scripture, the location for the last battle in history. See Gideon’s brook, the “Well of Herod”, and continue on to Tiberias for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Tiberias
There is nothing quite like witnessing a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee. Although there are many places which we must admit are traditional, you can be sure that the Lord Jesus walked down these shores. After a sunrise service and breakfast, visit the Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount; Tabgha, the Chapel dedicated to the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue on to the ruins at Capernaum, then the Synagogue and the house of Simon Peter. Cross the Sea of Galilee by motorboat. We end the day with a stop at the Jordan River, where a baptismal service is possible. Return to Tiberias for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5 – Jerusalem
We begin the day with an early morning departure to Cana and then on to Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus, where we will visit the Church of the Annunciation and Mary's Fountain. We stop at Bethshean to see the most recent excavations from the Roman Era. Drive south through the Jordan Valley to ancient Jericho where the walls came tumbling down for a view of the Mt. of Temptation and Elisha's Fountain. Then up to Jerusalem through the Judean wilderness. However, before reaching the highlight of our tour we make a stop in Bethlehem. We will visit the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus, and Shepherds Fields then the Field of Boaz and Ruth. We continue to Jerusalem passing Rachel's Tomb. Tonight we dine and overnight in the Holy City of Jerusalem.
DAY 06: JERUSALEM.
After breakfast this exciting day will begin with a drive to Mt. Scopus and the Mt. of Olives for a spectacular panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem. We visit the Chapel of the Ascension, the Church of Pater Noster and the Dominus Flevit. Walk along Hosanna Road to the Gethsemane to visit the Church of All Nations which stands on the Rock of Agony where Jesus was betrayed by Judas. See the Pillar of Absalom, the Eastern (Golden) Gate and the Pinnacle of the Temple. We then drive to Mt. Zion where we visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu on the site of Caiphas' House, the Room of the Last Supper and the Tomb of King David. Continue to tour New Jerusalem: Hebrew University, the Shrine of the Book that houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, see Yad Vashem - the immensely moving memorial to the six million martyrs of the Holocaust - and the Model City of Jerusalem which depicts in miniature the Holy City as it appeared in the first century. Return to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 07: JERUSALEM
Today begins with a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. Starting at the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) where the faithful Jews cry their petitions to God. Continue to the Temple Area of Mt. Moriah. Visit the El Aksa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, which is built on the ancient site of Solomon's Temple and over the Rock of Sacrifice where Abraham offered Isaac, and when animal sacrifice were made for all 70 nations. Walk along the Via Dolorosa to Pilate's Judgment Hall, the Chapel of the Flagellation, the Ecce Homo Arch where Jesus was tried before Pilate. Then continue through the Old City bazaars to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Visit the Garden Tomb and Golgotha - Place of the Skull - for a worship service. to our hotel for overnight.
DAY 08: MASADA / DEAD SEA.
This morning we visit Bethany, the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. We continue on the Jericho Road viewing the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Then onto Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Visit the remains of the Community Center of the Essenes and the Caves of the Scrolls. Then drive via the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth. A beautiful new road takes us south along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada, a truly remarkable piece of history. Ascend to Masada by cable car to visit the magnificent ruins of the fortress where from 70-73 A.D. the Jewish zealots made the last stand against the Romans. View the remains of a sixth century Byzantine church. On to our hotel along the Dead Sea for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 09: ST. CATHERINE'S.
This morning we are on our way to St. Catherine's Monetary . Many of us will want to retire early for an exciting tomorrow. Dinner and overnight stay will be at our hotel.
DAY 10: ST. CATHERINE'S
.A very early start this morning as we ascend to the top of Mt. Horeb. View a magnificent sunrise on top of this Mountain. After a morning service we make our descent. The chapel, library and ossuary (bones of the saints of many centuries) will provide a lifetime experience. By mid morning we leave St. Catherine and return to Tel Aviv for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 11: Return
After breakfast we depart our hotel to the Tel Aviv airport for our return flight to North America.
