16 Day Greek Isles Turkey & Italy Cruise

Day 1 Departure

We depart North America on our overnight flight to Venice, Italy. Dinner and breakfast will be served aloft.

Day 2 Arrive Venice, Italy

Upon our morning arrival in Venice we will be met by Triumph Tours representatives and transferred to our luxury-floating hotel, Princess Cruise Line’s, Star Princess. This will be our accommodations for the next 11 nights. Today we have included a short visit of Venice. Glide through the canals on a gondola ride through some of Venice’s smaller, less trafficked canals.

Venice is composed of 117 islands in the Venetian Lagoon and held together by a series of canals, and is like no other city in the world. Established more than 1,000 years ago by seafarers and Roman refugees; this magnificent city continues to be the heart of Italian culture as well as a Mecca for hopeless romantics. Probably the most famous site in Venice is St. Mark’s Basilica. Built to enshrine St. Mark’s body in the 9th century, it was rebuilt in the 11th century with a new, spectacular edifice. The interior is clad in wonderful mosaics and holds statues, icons and its famous horses, brought to St. Mark’s after the 4th Crusade in 1204. We are docked here overnight so you can enjoy Venice at night to stroll in the square, sit at a sidewalk café and sip cappuccino and listen to music from a small string ensemble. Remain docked overnight at Venice pier.

The old city of Dubrovnik and the walls that surround it have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Portions of this wall date back to the 13th century, its ramparts are intact and encircle the old city with a circumference of more than 1.5 miles.
